Biography
Independent Non-Executive Director
Julian Abara built an independent advertising group over fourteen years and sold it in 2019, remaining as chief executive through a two-year transition before moving to non-executive work.
He chairs the Remuneration Committee, which sets the pay of the executive directors and the Chairman. He has maintained the Group’s prohibition on linking any executive incentive to audience volume, page views or the advertising yield of an individual article.
He brings commercial perspective to a board otherwise weighted towards editorial, legal and financial experience — a balance the Nomination & Governance Committee identified as a gap before his appointment.
